Atlético Madrid have won their second in a series of friendlies in Colombia.On Saturday the Spaniards beat América de Cali 2-1, with goals by Radamel Falcao and Eduardo Salvio.
A nice surprise in Atleti's line-up was the inclusion of Sílvio and Jorge Pulido. The former had made only a single appearance in 2012, while Pulido returned from his loan spell at Rayo and is looking to make an impression on Simeone.
The coach played with three centre backs and pushed Filipe and Sílvio further up the field, while Diego and Salvio were given a free role behind Falcao.
The game in Cali was very open with chances for both sides. Atleti created opportunities for Falcao and Mario, while Diego almost scored a great free kick.
The home team also created some chances and were nearly helped to a goal, when a ball bounced off Miranda's knee and towards goal. Fortunately for our Brazilian defender the ball came back off the post.
After half an hour of play Radamel Falcao scored another unbelievable goal. Just three days after scoring an incredible bicycle kick against Millonarios, he repeated that feat by striking with an even more acrobatic overhead kick to give Atleti the lead.
In the second half Atleti doubled their lead. A fantastic cross by Filipe was headed home by Eduardo Salvio from close range to put daylight between the two teams.
That lasted only a few minutes however, because in the 58th minute the home side was awarded a dubious penalty. Jorge Pulido dove into a challenge and seemed to play both his opponent and the ball, and the referee pointed to the spot. Just like our first friendly we conceded from a penalty, because Bustos converted the spot kick to make it 2-1.
Atleti had to see out the final twenty minutes of the game with 10 men, because Tiago managed to pick up two bookings in a friendly match and was given his marching orders. Both yellows the Portuguese veteran received were for arguing with the referee.
Atlético's third and friendly will be played on the 22nd of May against Atlético Huila (Neiva).
